Lee M. Shaiman is a Managing Director of The Blackstone Group and a senior portfolio manager within the Customized Credit Strategies (“CCS”) unit of GSO. Mr. Shaiman’s primary responsibilities include management of NYSE-listed mutual funds that are advised or sub-advised by GSO and serving as chairman of the CCS U.S. Investment Committee.
Prior to joining GSO Capital Partners in 2005, Mr. Shaiman was a Managing Director in the Debt Funds Group at the Royal Bank of Canada, and the IndoSuez Capital Division of Credit Agricole, where he was the senior portfolio manager and director of research advising various CLOs and Separately Managed Accounts holding Senior Secured Bank Loans, High Yield Bonds and Mezzanine Debt securities. Prior to that, Mr. Shaiman was a Managing Director of UBS, where he was global head of high yield capital markets and a member of the credit underwriting committee, assisting corporate finance clients of the firm.
Mr. Shaiman received a BA in Economics from Rutgers College with honors, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Shaiman received an MS in Accounting and Taxation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) admitted to practice in New Jersey. He is a Director of the Loan Syndications and Trading Association (“LSTA”), which was established to promote the corporate loan market and provides leadership in the interests of all market participants. Mr. Shaiman also serves as a Director on the Investment Board of the Endowment Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey.
